I love to ask passionate people what their favorite places are. There is something Fabulous about someone who loves what they do. It's so uplifting and moving to hear them talk about their passion. Connecting with people who have a favourite: restaurant, dish, shoping experience ... Gets me motivated. I want to experience their experiences too. I know I could just Google reviews BUT I like to talk to people and watch their faces. I want to smile and cheer them on because I am moved. Google just doesn't share passion like that.

I remember listening to a sermon by Wayne Alcorn 12 years ago. He talked about an unforgettable experience deciding which donut to buy when he was out with his young son in Queensland (Australia's Florida). Such a great speaker and funnily enough I haven't forgotten what he said. He asked the salesgirl what donut she would recommend. His description of her answer took me there. I don't eat donuts but I wanted one! So did the whole audience. This salesgirl went off the scale in her descriptive love of "this" donut. She knew her donuts and I saw that the conversation with the sales girl was as important as the eating of the actual donut.

Sewists are passionate about their craft. I love our tribe. Talking texture, fabric composition, how it feels, colour, drape, cut, style, comfort, uniqueness, etc ...

So many wonderful conversations. There is always a story behind the Fabric and Pattern.

A Sewist's sewing life is like patchwork quilt.  A myriad of life, laughter, sadness, victory, defeat, joy, perseverance & endurance.

Guilt trips, feeling less than others, putdowns, to make someone feel inferior or less than encouraged, is seriously not welcome in this tribe! Personal Best and enjoying the process is what we are about. We sew and create for whatever reason. We are all on a different journey. So if someone makes you feel awful about your latest creation ... Avoid them at all costs. Sewing is a personal journey that cannot be helped to the next level by those who only throw rocks. We do the best with what we have and sew as a creative outlet, that in itself is life giving sustenance! We don't know another person's journey. We haven't experienced the same life as they have. Best if we focus on our next sewing project, sew it, wear it and do our Personal Best.

Avoid picky, judgemental people at all costs! They can deplete your creativity and joy if you let them.

There really is enough space at the table for every creative person.
