New Season means Switching Sewing Priorities!

Putting my previous season - Winter, in the back seat and promoting Spring to the front seat.

The pattern sifting has begun. I want to feel fresh, use what I have in my stash and wear it. Already we are in the second week of Spring and time is flying .... I'm in "Catch up" mode already.

This Digital panel was horizontal which meant I could have used it as a skirt only. By cutting the panel in half I could use it for a front for a top and a front for a skirt. Good thing I had a similar weight of stretch purple Fabric in my stash, to use as a colour block solution.

I got stuck in an inspiration overload sorting through my patterns..... So much so I just couldn't sleep! Sifting patterns late at night is dangerous. After a night like that, I knew the only solution for me would be to actually sew something. "Creative Running on the Spot" is fraught with inability to pick the pattern and then sew it with the appropriate Fabric. A situation caused by too much inspiration which then makes your brain shoot off into the:

  • Well I could make this but ....

  • What about this pattern, it's been at the top of my list for years ....

  • Oh this Fabric is divine I better look through the patterns again ....

  • Oh I know what Pattern will be perfect for this but where is it??

The sifting messed up my Patterns that were in order .… Is it bedtime already!? …

Honestly the only way to get back on the Sewing path is to actually make something ... anything just to stop the whirring of the brain.

A cure for Sewing Paralysis ... Make something quick!

So I made something! I couldn't decide on a pattern so I drafted a top and pull on skirt ... because I couldn't find the Patterns I was looking for.

I could have put the car on the top!

I'm test riding the outfit today. I might take the top in or not ... I'm feeling the vibe in this outfit and it feels good. My head has stopped whirring and I'm feeling I've made a belated start on Spring. The top will go with my lime pants and I think a blue shirt & blue top may extend the wardrobe options of these two separates. I'm excited and feeling free and my head is in the right zone for more Spring creations.
